Broadcast is the tool for making programs - as live assist or for later use. Here the presenter can build a play list of the material provided by other Radiohost applications. Commercials, news and music are the raw material when the presenter is making the program by adding speaks, or voice tracks, and adjusting the timing. Of course you can do your programming with no adjustments and no speaks when time is a critical factor.

"We checked out a lot of systems before we purchased Radiohost. We could not find a system that can handle all the things we can do with Radiohost. The system can handle whatever we can dream of, using it live or automated. It's easy to use, and for such a low price, it must be the best buy available on the market today."

"Six months ago we where looking for a system to replace our Wavestation and we tested a lot of the popular systems available on the market. Most of the systems where not very user friendly and they did not perform as well as we had expected. By chance we discovered the Radiohost system and this was a pleasant surprise. It had all the features we needed and it was very user friendly. Most of our DJ's are not very computer minded but a short introduction was sufficient for most of our DJ's. Some of the first comments where "This is very easy to use, much easier than Wavestation" and "Wow, this looks easy..." We where use to poor service from our old supplier so we where a bit anxious at this point. However, I must say that we have experienced the best service we have ever had from a software company. We had some special needs for Heavy Rotation and Easy Spot and these were implemented in a short while, fast and effective. I can highly recommend the Radiohost system to all stations who need a system that are fully equipped with functionality and which is still cost effective. In my opinion the Radiohost system is a strong alternative to systems like the Dalet system and you can still keep the budget."

Short description

Since Broadcast is using files as building blocks in your programming you can use Broadcast as a stand alone application. Click hereHowever when using other applications from Radiohost you will have a totally integrated system.

While broadcasting live a listener is calling with a specific request. From Broadcast you simply query the database Card File which place the request directly in your play list - all in under 5 sec. If you don´t find the request present on the hard drive you already have the information to give the listener some alternatives.

During a quiz show you use the F-keys to broadcast up to 40 applause and buzz signals momentarily. Similarly the F-keys can be used for station IDs and DJ specific jingles in a spontaneous live show.

With voice tracking you can insert speaks,or voice tracks, and time them perfectly. Use Broadcast to make a radio program which you automatically send on air at a later time or use it in a live show where you can time your shows perfectly.

Heavy Rotation provides you with the audio material to make a really cool radio show. A few clicks and you can start the programming. When broadcasting or planning a program you can listen to the recorded messages from Dial-o-matic. If you want to use a sequence from a message you simply choose the sequence and place it directly in your play list.

Hardware requirements

Allthough we have seen a station running Broadcast on a 486 platform, we recommend that you use a pentium 2 or faster IBM compatible PC for optimal performance. The extra power is especially nice to have when practicing concurrent tasks live. If you want to use the software Mpeg decoding in Broadcast you will need a powerful computer too.

You can have any windows compatible sound card working for Broadcast. To use the full potential you need four stereo outputs, yet only one stereo output enables multiple overlapping files.

Computer:

Pentium II based or alike

Operating system:

Windows 95 or 98 (NT has only limited support of drivers and does not support the Darla sound card)

Sound card:

Gina24 from Echo Digital Audio Corporation.

Hard disc:

Many stations which have no separate file server choose to use the PC where Broadcast is running as a file server. The needed capacity is dependent of the number of titles you want to use in your system. With a 10 Gb hard disk you can have approximately 2.250 titles in Mpeg 3, 128 Kbit format.

Net card:

100 Mbit

Ram:

256 Mb
