Frequently Asked Questions

Mpeg

Does Radiohost support Mpeg encoded files?

Yes, you can play most Mpeg files on the Radiohost system.

Exceptions are files compressed using the Joint stereo format and files with variable bit rates. It is nessesary to keep a bit rate through a file in order to read he durration of the file.

We already have a large library of mp3 songs. I hope it's possible to enter them in cardfile, add overlap and other settings, so that we don't have to record them again?

Yes, you can use your existing mp3 songs in the system. Just set overlap and other settings in Communicator and you are up and running.

What compression do you reccomend?

This is a difficult question because different stations have different needs. Most stations in Denmark are using bit rate higher than 128 Kb, but this is really up to you to decide. Personally I like the 256 Kb but I donīt have a lot of songs, so hard disk space is not a problem for me.

Hardware

You reccomend DARLA soundcard from Echo, will the GINA from Echo do the job too?

Yes, at least one station is using the GINA card.
