Data server is the database server in the Radiohost system. You can use some of the modules in the system without the server if you do not need the database access and want to have a file based system only. The use of databases comes into question when you want to use the Music database, the Music scheduling, Commercial booking, the logging facility and other advanced features in the Radiohost system. The server is totaly free of cost and you do not need to register the server. Other software systems using this server have been running with a high degree of stability with more than 50 concurrent users.

"The radiohost system have remarkably helped us to improve the quality of our evening, nights and weekend hours. The voice track function enables us to have our top hosts on air 24 hours a day. In the day hours our hosts can easily schedule the play list 10 or 15 minutes ahead and hereby gain the resources to track a listener, preparing the news etc. Reporting music royalties, is no longer a problem. The system enables us to print out hourly reports of the log. In opposition to many other systems the radiohost system is not dependent on specific hardware and we have been able to choose the sound cards that fitted our requirements and budget. The new mpeg 3 support, virtually expand our disc capacity 2 to 4 times and now we have a huge part of our record collection in the system."

Features
  • True client/server technology
  • TCP/IP networking
  • High stability
  • True multi user database
Short description

Unlike other automation systems the Radiohost system uses a true client/server technology. This ensures a high degree of stability and help you to keep your system on air. Also, when muliple users are accessing the database cuncurrently, a client/server system is faster and more reliable than a single platform database that are modified to run in a network.

Hardware requirements

The hardware is not critical for Data server. A powerfull PC will speed up database access, but you can run the Data server on almost any system.

Computer:

Pentium based or alike. A fast processor will speed up database access.

Operating system:

Windows 95, 98 or NT

Hard disk:

As fast as possible. The speed of the hard disk as well as the processor power have a high influence at the performance. If you are saving all logs and scheduling you will need 50 - 100 Mb disk space after a few years.

Sound card:

Standard Windows compatiple sound card.

Net card:

100 Mbit
